You’re welcome! I am in the process of organizing a Christmas card/letter writing drive for our next FRG meeting and at our Company Christmas party! This is one of my ways to “give” back during this 30-day challenge. I hope more people will read about this and help your organization out. I would love to have you come to our Christmas party and talk about your organization and we can present all of our cards and letters to you then – btw – we’re in L.A. – so we’re pretty close by.

THANK YOU for including Operation Gratitude in your 30-Day Giving Challenge list of military support groups! We would love for folks to write personal letters of appreciation to deployed service members and send them to us — we will ship the letters and cards in our 60,000 individually-addressed holiday care packages going out now through December 19! (Troops love to get drawings and notes from children, too!)

Ok, so I listened to the first podcast and I don’t recall ANYTHING that violated OPSEC. Can you elaborate further without violating OPSEC? Your guest spoke well and sounded very informed on the military life, both in recruiting and regular army. I enjoyed listening.

I’m very worried about our frg’s fundraising actions.. now i have never done a usarec fundraiser but in the regular army you had to have a bank account set up, you could only ask military for dontations, and there was a lot of paper work that needed to be filled out. Is usarec different or is our frg heading for trouble?

It is actually against Army regs and just because one CO lets it happens doesnt make it legal. People who break the rules just because they can are the ones who screw it up for the rest of us that make a effort to follow regs. You cannot make money off the soldiers in that fashion and make them feel obligated to give over money. Maybe you should read AR 608-1 and find out.

We’ve gotten conflicting info on the GI Bill transferability. I’ve read it’s six years in, 4 years left to be able to transfer (we’re not even close) but hubby heard something different, somethign about the latest update and transfering 36 months immediately, except if spouse is in grad school, in which case GI Bill is not able to be used? Anyone know the latest?
